Significant occurrences:
1. SWE Region - 24 Dec. - 12 North Shore Rescue responded to RCMP
request to search for a missing skier. The individual
was successfully located.
2. CTL Region - 26 Dec. - 4 Princeton SAR responded to RCMP request to
locate a 64 year old female that had gone for a walk
and was overdue. RCMP dog team located the individual.
3. SWE Region - 26 Dec. - 6 Ridge Meadows SAR responded to search for
a suicidal male missing since 24 Dec, in Pitt Meadows.
The male was located deceased.
4. VIR Region - 26 Dec. - 1 PEP Air member responded to a request from
RCC to investigate an ELT sounding near the area of
Victoria Airport. The ELT was traced to a single engine
aircraft in the airport and shut down.
5. NWE Region - 26 Dec. - 6 Bulkley Valley SAR responded to a request
from RCMP to search for a missing 14 year old skier in
the Hudson's Bay Mountain Ski area. The youth was
skiing out of bounds when he went down a ravine.
Search was concluded when he was found in good
condition.
6. NEA Region - 27 Dec. - 25 Bella Coola SAR responded to RCMP request
to assist in the search for a missing female, possibly
suicidal. Subject was located on a trail where she had
become overtaken by darkness. She was transferred to
BCAS.
7. NEA Region - 27 Dec. - 5 Robson Valley SAR responded to RCMP request
to search for a snowmobiler who became separated from
his group on Bell Mountain. The search was stood down
when they located the missing snowmobiler, who had
suffered a mechanical failure.
8. CTL Region - 28 Dec. - 5 Kamloops SAR responded to search for 4
youths who were overdue to return home. SAR stood down
when the youths returned home safely.
9. SEA Region - 28 Dec. - 8 Revelstoke SAR mustered to assist BCAS with
an injured snowmobiler on Boulder Mountain. Search was
stood down when the subject was admitted to hospital.
10. NWE Region - 29 Dec. - 1 Bulkley Valley SAR & 3 Granisle SAR
responded and transported an injured snowmobiler out of
a remote area for BCAS. The snowmobiler was taken to
hospital with a broken leg.
11. SWE Region - 30 Dec. - 25 North Shore SAR responded to search for
2 teenaged snow-boarders missing on Mount Seymour.
Teenagers were found alive and well and were escorted
out of the area.
POWER OUTAGE
On 23 Dec 01, a power outage occurred in Port Clements and arrangements
were made at a local Bed and Breakfast for those citizens who could not
stay with friends or family.
MISCELLANEOUS
On 27 Dec 01, an occupant of a mobile home was displaced when the Fire
Chief deemed the residence uninhabitable due to a spill of furnace oil
which saturated the ground under his home.
On 29 Dec 01, residents of 2 homes in Boston Bar required accommodation
when they lost the water supply to their homes. There has been an
ongoing issue regarding their water lines, and the maintenance
responsibility between CN Rail, and the Fraser Valley Regional
District.
