The global security environment is currently marked by the war in Iraq and potential attacks by terrorists.

Canadian National security and intelligence authorities continue to indicate that there is no evidence to suggest a threat causing unusual risk to the Canadian public or infrastructure.

British Columbia has a 4-level threat advisory system [PDF] in place and the following Web site will provide additional information about the BC threat level: www.rcmp-grc.ca should the BC advisory system be activated in BC.

Every individual, family and every level of government has a responsibility to be prepared for any emergency, including potential terrorism actions.

British Columbia Threat Advisory System [PDF]
A 4-level system to provide warnings that increase as the risk of the threat increases. Each level (LOW, MEDIUM, HIGH and IMMINENT) has different protective measures the public and provincial government ministries and agencies should take.

British Columbia, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Terrorism Consequence Management Plan [PDF]
Several provincial agencies have cooperated to outline how BC will coordinate response to the consequences of a possible terrorist action involving unconventional weapons.

The Health Canada Centre for Emergency Prepraredness and Response (CEPR)
Canada's central coordinating point for public health security issues. Among its many responsibilities, CEPR develops and maintains national emergency response plans for Health Canada; monitors outbreaks and global disease events; and is the health authority in the Government of Canada on bioterrorism, emergency health services and emergency response.
